  • Present oneself clearly according to one's skills.
  • Respect the different approaches of the profession as well as its intellectual property.
  • Respect the environment of all stakeholders.
  • Call upon professional assistance if necessary.

Professional conduct in relation to clients

  • Clearly define the limits of the professional relationship.
  • Establish clear agreements with clients and honor them in the context of the professional coaching relationship.
  • Ensure at the outset that the client understands the nature of the coaching, the framework of confidentiality, financial agreements and other terms of the contract.
  • Do not accept any assignment with which the coach is not qualified to fulfill the best interests of the client. The coach will, if necessary, guide the coachee to a qualified professional who can meet his or her needs.
  • Aware of his position, the coach will work as to enable the coachee to become autonomous as quickly as possible.
  • The coach will guide and advise his client according to his specific request and will leave the responsibility of his decisions to his client.
  • Before each intervention, the coach will take into account the environment of the client's request (respect for the client's integrity, his professional - relational - personal environment).
  • The coach will inform his client (according to the elements he/she will receive) of the possible consequences in his evolution process. He/she will adapt his/her intervention in accordance with the stages of development of the coachee.
  • The coach will not proceed to any intervention without the explicit agreement of his client. He/she will refrain from giving his/her own solution, but will help his client find his own.
  • The coach will respect the client's right to end the coaching at any time he/she deems necessary.

Respect and confidentiality

  • The coach will respect the confidentiality of what his client and his possible partner(s) will disclose during the sessions, except if he expressly authorizes it or if the law requires it.
  • The coach will not accept, within the framework of his specific mission, without the client's knowledge, any other remuneration of any kind than that agreed with his client.
  • The coach will show, in all circumstances, a complete loyalty towards his client.

Conflicts of interest

  • The coach will obtain the agreement of his clients before mentioning their identity or any information allowing to identify them.
  • The coach practices with due regard to the balance of interests between the coachee and his organization. The coach will only be accountable to the client within the limits established with the coachee.
  • The coach will make sure to avoid any conflict between his interests and those of his clients. In the event of a potential conflict of interest, the coach will openly expose the situation and fully deliberate with the client how to deal with the conflict.

Supervision

  • The professional practice of coaching requires supervision, to which the coach commits.
